There’s a very busy intersection close as the entrance of my Village that has no lights, just one stop sign coming from the west, north and southbound vehicles have the right of way, with many turning west, all the while, it is a central pedestrian location. There is much going on.
It never ceases to amaze me that people fail to look at the flow of the situation. North and southbound drivers do not slow down, because they don’t have to. Drivers coming from the west have to wait super long times to get a chance to enter the intersection, or have to risk an accident by inching out and forcing an entrance as traffic backs up behind them.
Why can’t everyone just slow down, look around and let traffic flow? Everyone’s got somewhere to be, somewhere to go, somewhere they’ve been…
It pains me even more when I see this scenario from the bigger picture of life. There is a flow and we mostly rush around ignoring it, falling out of step with nature, with ourselves and each other.
With all our time-saving conveniences, there’s still never enough time. I have learned the value of being able to stop. It’s quite empowering actually. Sometimes, it’s the best thing to happen to Go.
I know. From time to time I meditate on this statement: “You can only go as fast as the person in front of you.” Life is not a no contact sport.
I’ve learned the power of being able to be late without freaking out.
